A few days ago, the World Association of Newspapers and Newspaper Publishers (WAN-IFRA), with the support of its Global Alliance for Media Innovation, published a new report exploring the correlations between blockchain and news publishing and how it is being used already, and where it may be headed.

According to the official summary of the report, blockchain is claimed to be capable of supporting a new form of self-government and self-supporting publishing, free of the domination of technology behemoths – and large publishers. Moreover, it advocates contend that it can shift the balance of power on the internet toward writers, artists and consumers.
